Here’s how. First buy a compass and learn how to take a reading.

Then find a good website which gives the sun/moon rise/set times for your area along with the azimuth.

Now you know where the moon/sun will be. Position yourself around your subject so you’re ready to shoot the event.

Just got a Droid eris and on my previous phone htc touch with Windows Mobile 6.1 there was a Java emulator (Intent Java MIDlet Manager ) which allowed you to run jad/jar files on your Windows Mobile device. I’m not overly familiar with this to begin with but was wondering if there is something out there for the Droid eris which does similar?

All Droid apps are written in Java and run on their own Java Virtual Machine. So, I would imagine that your Droid Eris has the capability you want built-in.
